Resilient Road Infrastructure Guideline (RRIG)

Overview

With rising frequency and severity of storms and floods, resilient road infrastructure is essential for safeguarding communities, ensuring economic continuity, and maintaining emergency access. The IPWEA-QNT Resilient Road Infrastructure Guideline (RRIG) provides road owners and managers with practical strategies to strengthen network resilience against extreme weather, reducing vulnerabilities and minimising disruptions. It offers treatment options for key road elements to help reinforce infrastructure and improve recovery after major storm events. By adopting these resilience-focused approaches, road managers can protect critical assets, enhance transportation reliability,​​​

1st Edition, June 2025

 

The 1st Edition of the RRIG has been developed by IPWEA-QNT and has been funded by the Queensland Government through the QRA’s Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Fund 2021-22. IPWEA-QNT have also provided an in-kind contribution to the development of the Guide and wish to thank the Queensland Government for their support.

 

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) is the lead agency responsible for disaster recovery and resilience in Queensland. It is QRA’s vision to enable stronger, safer and more resilient Queensland communities with the purpose to coordinate action to improve the resilience of Queensland communities and facilitate locally led disaster recovery.
